IT'S SO HARD TO SAY GOODBYE!

In one weekend, we lost two legends...one was a comedic legend, Bernie Mac, and the other a music and theater legend, Issac Hayes.

My heart was saddened by the death of Bernie Mac. I have long been a fan of Bernie Mac and even remember watching him when he first appeared on Def Comedy Jam. The first words out of his mouth were "I AINT SCARED OF YOU MF'S" and I absolutely loved it. Bernie suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease, but had said the condition went into remission in 2005. He recently was hospitalized and treated for pneumonia, which his publicist said was not related to the disease. Bernie's family said they expected him to return home but towards the end, they knew that his death was a possibility. His wife said over the last few weeks, they had learned to communicate with each other through body gestures and hand movements because he was unable to speak with the ventilator in his mouth. Early Saturday morning, she said he opened his eyes and she told him, "I know you are tired but keep fighting." She said he shook his head and at that moment, she knew it was the end. They revived him for another hour but after that he was gone. Bernie Mac died early Saturday morning at the age of 50. My prayers go out to the MAC family. A memorial service will be held for him this Saturday in his native city, Chicago, at the House of Hope.

Here are pictures of the Mac Man's daughter, Je'Niece and his son in-law, Trey, and their daughter who is absolutely adorable.

We also bid farewell to Sir Issac Hayes who was one of the most dominant black artists of the early 1970s. He was self taught musician who could play both the piano and the saxophone. Mr. Hayes won an Oscar for the hit theme, Shaft, in 1971. Many of the young fans know him for his role as Chef on the cartoon series, South Park. He died in his Memphis home at the age of 65. Issac's wife found him unconscious next to a moving treadmill then he was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. My prayers go out to his family as well.
