My prayers go out to the family of Akira Johnson, a 10 year old girl, who is still missing from the tragedy that hit Long Island beaches this weekend. Her family is pictured above with her 10 year cousin who was rescued the same day.

Also the funeral of DJ K Swift aka Khia Edgerton (pictured above) was held this weekend at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. The Baltimore native was twenty-nine years old and died from a swimming accident at her home. She has a very special place in the heart of my family as well, she grew up across the street from my aunt's house in Randallstown, a middle class black neighborhood in Baltimore County. My family and I remember Khia coming to swim at her home with us throughout the summer growing up.

Rest in Peace...your legacy and spirit will keep you with us eternally.
