BARACK IS A ROLLING STONE!

Future President Barack Obama is gracing the cover of Rolling Stone for the month of July. He is all over the place these days and up 12 points in the polls. I don't think many of us truly take enough time to reflect on how incredibly significant this is for African American people. My friend LD was sitting on my couch this evening crying at the thought that a black man is going to be president. Born in Georgia and the product of a suburban area of Atlanta surrounded by whites said, "you just don't understand what I have experienced". The tears rolled down her face and her voice cracked with pain and overwhelming joy. I saw in her eyes how much her life story along with her family's stories had truly affected her. Her mother who grew up in Montgomery during the height of the Civil Rights Movement was also emotional. I remember hearing about her breaking down as well the day she went to the polls to vote for a black man who she said has a "real chance at being president". But as we all know, Barack is not just any black man but he is a man who possesses the opportunity to forever change America and finally give our people a voice that truly matters. Our parents' stories are our history and to all of us Barack represents a tremendous accomplishment for their fight and our fight as an African Americans. WE ARE HERE NOW AMERICA AND NOTHING WILL STOP US...OBAMA 08!
